Black Ivy League: Miami-Dade Chapter
Miami Chapter Representative, Black Ivy Alumni League (BIAL)
October 2011- Present
I am currently the founding member of the Miami Chapter of the Black Ivy Alumni league. To date we have hosted 3 happy hours with a total of 25+ attendees and have just launched the BIAL South Florida Linked In Group. The conversations focus around what we, as black ivy alumni, can do to support our communities and build business in South Florida. I am on the BIAL national planning committee for our first annual BIAL conference being held in Miami in October 2013. My focus in this conference is to create a session on how to leverage policy and advocacy to make change in black communities. In addition, we have partnered with a member of BIAL Dallas to start hosting NeoSoul BIAL Brunches in Miami starting in April 2013 the focus of which is to bring artists and entrepreneurs together in a common intellectual space.
This year our focus is on building a sustainable volunteer committee of 4 members where we are able to provide additional opportunities to connect related to professional development and community service. We currently have 13 active members in South Florida and are partnering with school based Black Ivy alumni associations to activate our network and build our base.
